I personally was in favor of corps, but all of you have very good arguments, so I'm indifferent. In my experiences, corps made my first DC experience amazing. While I didn't feel/notice the negative effects you say came from the corps, I do admit I was very young (11-12 on DC4), so its very(very) likely I was just oblivious. To me, they actually kept DC connected. I remember traveling to and building houses in the capitals of every corps, and it's actually what led me to meet new people. I'm fairly certain I met aoa by building in the fire corps city. I also met Jess in something water corps related, as well as many other members like Antoeknee, and Westcoastgamer. It definitely sounds like there were some complications caused by corps, but I would love to see if they could be circumvented if we put some thought into it. If it's possible, I would absolutely love to see a healthier model of "corps" be implemented.
I do actually have a request though. I think that what connected players just as much as the corps were the North/South/East/West roads leading out of spawn on DC4. People would build cities along these roads, which led to people interacting just by using the roads. I remember having to take a road to get to my shop, and it took me by a handful of interesting buildings/communities/people.
