TUTORIAL - Cuboid Regulations - Lostuser - 07-31-2015

Updates 12/14/2015: Changed minimum distance allowed between new cuboids from 100 to 50. Changed maximum number of cuboids per player to a different system; instead of specific maximums per cuboid type, there is a maximum of THREE cuboids per player (any type as long as total is under 3).

What they are
Cuboids are zones in the world of Dreamcraft that only permit staff or certain players to build within. This protects a cuboided area from just about all types of griefing, as well as allows for special "flags" to be added to give the cuboid extra features such as regeneration, disallowing snow-fall, and denying mob-spawning. YOU STILL NEED TO LOCK CHESTS/DOORS IN CUBOIDS WITH /LWC.

-

Joining a cuboid
Find out who owns the cuboid, and then ask them if you may join. You can see cuboid info either in game(go to the cuboid, type command /rg info) or on our dynamic world map(go to the website http://www.dreamcraft.org:8123, then click on a cuboid). Cuboid owners have the right to decide who is able to build in their cuboid. If your request to join their cuboid is denied, do not harass them further. Find another cuboid to join or ask for your own.

Asking for a cuboid
Staff is able to create cuboids and edit existing ones. You may ask any staff member to set up a cuboid. However, you can't just protect any area of land of any size. There are a few things you need to have done before your request can be filled...
- Make sure your cuboid is at least 50 blocks away from the closest other cuboids (can be closer with written consent of affected cuboid owners).
- You do not own more than the allowed limit of cuboids(more info in the "Cuboid Types" section).
- Have a name for the area planned out(something unique and identifying, not just "myhouse").
- Decide what you want to build(more info in the "Cuboid Types" section).
- Set up the area(more info in the "Setting up the area" section).

Cuboid Types
Players can have up to THREE (3) cuboids of their choosing (except for server cuboids, which are server-owned). The types are as follows:

Server Cuboid: These cuboids are used to protect server related areas or builds. Spawn and PlayerMarket are two examples of server cuboids. Server cuboid names start with "0_", for example, "0_Spawn".

City Cuboid: This is to protect larger areas of land and can be expanded to larger sizes, depending on the activity of the area and how many players belong to it. City cuboid names start with "1_", for example, "1_lostusercity".

Personal Cuboid: This is to protect a small area of land, usually as a personal player plot. Personal plots can not be expanded. Personal cuboid names start with "2_", for example, "2_lostuserhouse".

Farm Cuboid: This is to protect a farm of any type. The allowed size of farm cuboids depends on the type of farm. Wheat/plant farms can be larger, while mob farms must be smaller to be protected. Farm cuboid names start with "3_", for example, "3_lostuserfarm".

Shop Cuboid: These cuboids are made for player shops. The size is around the same size of personal cuboids, and for a single building. Shop cuboid names start with "4_", for example, "4_Shop1".

Setting up the area
Place a granite block at one far corner, and a granite block at the other far corner. Do not worry about vertical height on your block markers, that can be discussed depending on your cuboid type. Staff will look for these granite blocks when setting up the cuboid, and if they aren't there, you may not get your area protected. Make sure your area is of a reasonable size. The more players you have building in the cuboid, the larger we will allow the cuboid to be. Refer to the dynamic world map(http://www.dreamcraft.org:8123) to compare your requested cuboid size to others that already exist. If the cuboid you are requesting is much larger than others, then your request may be denied. When you are ready to make your request, /mail a GM staff member your request and they will consult with you when possible.

Expanding the area
You can request for staff to expand your cuboid if you seem to need more room and/or have acquired additional members for the cuboid. Place granite blocks at the far corners of the new area, as you did with the initial setup. If your request is accepted, we will redefine the cuboid to have the new area. Again, please be wary of the cuboids around yours, as well as keeping your cuboid at a reasonable size. Also, if your cuboid is a personal or shop cuboid, expanding might not be an option.

Requesting a cuboid takedown
Sometimes inactive players will be the owners of cuboids. If you wish to set a cuboid in a certain area but you are too close to an "inactive" cuboid, OR if you wish for a current inactive cuboid to be moved/removed, then you can ask staff and we will begin the process to see if the cuboid can be removed.
